Wisdom of the elderly.

When you get to be a really, really old dog, you have to do things a little different. You might prefer a super fluffy bed to the hard floor. You might want your meals warm and soft instead of that hard dry crap. You might need to sleep 23 1/2 hours a day, after all you are retired now. And when you sleep most of the day, are deaf, and have cataracts, you may want to hide your bone in a really good place so that other dog cant get it.
Yep, you may want to put it somewhere you know it is safe.
After all, who would possibly go in there to get it?

  2. Such a sweet girl! Although...in the world of "doggie butt sniffing", she might not get to keep that bone as long as she thinks. ;)

    1. Ha, maybe that is why it is there. The other dog can smell it but cant have it. Pure torture.

    2. My guess would be that she's masking the bone scent with some noxious gas. That's how our senior boy gets whole rooms to himself.

  3. Love it.
So, since hubby is retired, does that mean he should get away with a daily nap?? Cuz, he's trying!

    1. Mine is not retired, and still tries for that nap too. You know, just resting his eyes.

  4. OR . . . since you're a really, really old doggie, you may have had the bone in your mouth when you went to lie on your comfy bed to take a nap and when you turned around (slowly) three times before lying down (slowly), the bone may have dropped out of your mouth and you didn't even notice it. Sigh.

Sue, he can take a daily nap but don't let him take his snack with him.

    1. Mama Pea, the days of turning around are over and it is much more of a get in the bed and flop. So anything that happens to be under her at the time would get flopped upon. Once my Husband spent hours looking for his cell phone thinking the worst since when he would call it, there was no ringing to be heard. Much later the old girl gets up and much like she had laid an egg, there is the phone. I guess it could not get a signal under her.

    1. Humble wife, I have always felt that is the flaw of the dog, that they only get to live such a short time.

  11. You know, when you need to hang onto something, you just need to hang on tight, however that might be. I remember my mom telling of when we were little, my sister needed to go to the bathroom, but didn't want to put down her very favorite purse in case one of us would take it. Mom walks down the hallway to see Linda hanging onto the pot with her hands, and the purse was in her mouth. It worked!!
